A New First-Class Citizen of the Internet

I’ve been thinking about how agents are becoming a fundamental part of the internet’s fabric. We’re moving toward an era where agents are a new first-class citizen of the digital world.

The Three Pillars

For this to work, agents need the same primitives humans have for participating in the economy:

  1. Identity — Agents need persistent, verifiable identities, not just API keys
  2. Communications — Mail and phone numbers for agent-to-agent and agent-to-human interaction
  3. Payments — The ability to transact, make purchases, and receive funds

Agent-to-Agent Economy

Once these primitives exist, we unlock something interesting: an Agent-to-Agent Economy. Agents browsing the web, discovering services, making purchases, and coordinating with other agents, all autonomously.

This isn’t science fiction. The pieces are already coming together:

The implications are huge. E-commerce, service discovery, resource allocation, all of it changes when agents can participate directly, not just as proxies for humans.

I’m excited to watch (and build) this unfold.
